What We Do

In 2014, NEF launched a re-worked and expanded scholarship program for 12 young women in southern Gujarat. The expanded program now covers up to 90% (or ₹30,000) of a Scholar’s cost of college attendance, and is renewable for the full length of the Scholar’s program. In the decade since the first 12 Scholars were selected, over 1,000 scholarships have been awarded.

As an organization, we strive to support as many Scholars as possible and to provide comprehensive services to help these young women improve the quality of not just their lives, but also the lives of their families and communities.

Who We Serve

What started as a one time academic prize at Kadod High School has blossomed into a robust and renewable Scholars program for young women that operates across ten districts in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Our scholarships cover program fees, textbooks, room and board (or commuting costs), exam fees, and any other expenses that are tied to the cost of attendance. Scholarships are renewable for each year of the program.

We select young women who demonstrate a mix of academic merit, financial need, and the motivation to improve not just their own lives, but their communities and India as a whole.

Impact Stories

Thank you so much. We are feeling fortunate that we are the part of one of the most supportive platforms, the Nanubhai organization. I feel grateful for the support and appreciation, not only me, we all are thankful. And we immensively believe that through the support and blessings, we all will do great in our future and try to shine like a sun who doesn’t know how to set.

Now I am studying in the University of Allahabad and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in political science and anthropology. Specifically, my aim is to become a civil servant andwork for society. Also I want to become a good artist who has the capabilities to connect with the readers and their audience.

I am very passionate about debating and orating. I won state and national youth championships. Now I am focusing on Youth Parliament this year so that I can improve my orating skills and get a chance to raise and talk about some issues and changes.

I feel very proud that I have parents who support me, even if we do not have too much, but they support me to do my best. I completed my whole school education through my scholarship and now also with the help of Nanubhai organization I am completing my Bachelor’s.

I am Dr. Ayushi (PT) from Bardoli, Gujarat.I completed my BPT course from The Maharaja Sayajirao University Of Baroda.

When I first stepped into the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program, I had a dream — a dream to help people move, heal, and live better, a dream to become a doctor.  But like most dreams, the path wasn’t always easy.

Physiotherapy is one of the fastest-growing healthcare professions in the world. It is a field that bridges science and compassion, where we use our understanding of human anatomy and movement to restore lives, rehabilitate injuries, and promote wellness.

It is a four and a half year program: four years for academic studies and then a six month internship. In the beginning, everything felt overwhelming. Medical terms sounded like another language, and anatomy classes felt like endless hours of memorizing bones, muscles, and nerves. But slowly, things started to make sense. I began to understand not just the theory, but the deeper purpose behind what we were learning: the ability to help someone stand, walk, move, and live without pain.

The smile on a patient’s face after weeks of therapy, or a simple “thank you” from someone who had been in pain, it wasn’t always easy, but those were the moments that kept me going.

There were sleepless nights before exams, the stress of practicals, and moments when I truly felt like giving up, but I didn’t. .Looking back, this journey has been more than just academic…It has shaped my identity, taught me responsibility, and showed me the value of hard work & compassion.

First, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family. They are my strongest support system, my mom and pappa: everything I am achieving today is because of their constant presence behind me.

And I am deeply grateful to Nanubhai, whose financial support came as a lifeline during one of the most critical periods of my academic journey. This scholarship was not just funding, it was hope. It gave me the freedom to pursue my studies without the fear of financial burden. It allowed me to stay committed to my goals and become the physiotherapist I always dreamed of being.

Thank you so much.

History

Established in 2005, the Nanubhai Education Foundation (NEF, a registered 501(c)3) is named after Mr. Nanubhai Naik, who was a former principal at a small village high school in Kadod, Gujarat, India. Under the leadership and vision of Principal Naik, hundreds of local students went on to pursue higher education both within India and abroad, including the father of NEF’s founder, Dr. Manoj Shah, who emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Georgia after completing medical school. This unprecedented wave of achievement changed not only the lives of the graduates of the high school, but also the quality of life in Kadod and other nearby villages.

Raj Shah, NEF’s founder, saw the impact of education first hand during his childhood visits to India, and it was his understanding of how Principal Naik’s influence impacted not only his father’s life, but his own life as well, that inspired Mr. Shah to found NEF in order to give back.
